Fans eagerly waiting for the next chapter in the Call of Duty franchise may not have to wait longer for information about the highly anticipated shooter. While it seems Activision is planning to officially reveal the game on May 1, leaked promotional material has given up the 'Ghost' ahead of schedule.

It is looking more and more likely that the next game in the series will be titled Ghost, instead of Modern Warfare 4, if these Target ads are to be believed. In addition, a leak first reported by Gamespot from Tesco, a retailer from the UK, had Ghosts described as thus:

"Built on an entirely new story, setting, and cast, all powered by a next-generation Call of Duty engine".

If this synopsis is accurate, then not only is the game abandoning the Modern Warfare title, but may also be appearing on next-gen platforms as well. The material had the game listed for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but the hint at a next-gen engine for the game and early November release date for the game point towards the possibility of next-gen versions as well.

Whatever the case may be, Activision has refused to comment on any of the leaked information concerning the next Call of Duty game. They may be planning on releasing information on the rumored May 1 date, or they could be waiting for a big event like E3 to tell the public about their plans for the future of the franchise. Either way, until we find out more about Call of Duty: Ghosts, gamers will have to content themselves with playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 for the coming months, and enjoy the new Mob of the Dead DLC for the game.
