A day before the UFC Light Heavyweight title bout, let's take a deep look at the fighters who would eventually lock horns at fight night - (April. 27 at Newark, New Jersey).

Jon 'Bones' Jones Jr.

Over his last five fights, Jones has been virtually unstoppable inside the octagon. He has faced some of the big names in his division such as Mauricio Rua, Quinton Jackson, Rashad Evans, Lyoto Machida, and Vitor Belfort and they all succumbed to him.

Jones is a complete mixed martial arts package with the ability to dominate opponents with his superb striking skills and decapitate them through his potent array of submission attacks.

When he's fighting in the ring, Jones always stays cool and reads movement of his foe before unleashing his attack.

Chael Sonnen

Arguably one of the most intriguing fighters in UFC history, Sonnen boasts a track record only few could match. He's been inside the ring with some of MMA icons, including MMA great Anderson Silva.

Over his last five fights, Sonnen defeated Nate Marquardt, Brian Stann and Michael Besping but he twice lost to Silva, first in 2010 (via triangle armbar in Rd. 5) and the lates in 2012 (via TKOin Rd 2).

Sonnen didn't get the moniker 'The American Gangster' for nothing. Inside the octagon, Sonnen is a pure warrior who used his 6-foot-1, 185 pound frame to roughhouse his opponent. His boxing skill has developed significantly in his last couple of fights, though his greatest tool remains his ground-and-pound game.

Prediction

Though Jones enters the showdown as the huge favorite on paper, Sonnen poses perhaps the biggest threat to Bones' reign in the light heavyweight division.

Sonnen possesses size advantage, solid wrestling background and great conditioning to fend off all possible assaults from Jones. Moreover, Sonnen's fearless style of fighting makes him a very dangerous opponent for anyone to take on.

However, Jones has proven time and time again about his unique ability to cancel out the aggressiveness of his foe by leaning on his hit-and-run attacks. Moreover, Jones' stoic composure has been incredible and it would likely be the key to another victory, especially if he's fighting a brawler like Sonnen.
