Barcelona is stuck in a massive 4-0 hole. By all accounts the team has no chance to win the match at home by such a margin and make it to the Champions league final. To make it happen, Barcelona would need to win by five or more. Bayern Munich has only allowed 10 goals through the group stage and the knockout rounds. More importantly, the team has only allowed eight goals in Bundesliga competitions.

But not all hope is gone for the Spanish side. Despite the loss, there is no reason to believe that Tito Vilanova and company will not play a more aggressive match and will not do its utmost to force Bayern Munich into a mistake. Lionel Messi is undoubtedly the best player in the world and one must never forget his five goal rampage against Bayer Leverkusen a year ago. This Munich side is far superior to that Leverkusen side and has a physical edge over the Spaniards but the Germans are not flawless.

Munich has showed periods of inconsistency in this competition and few will forget the lapses in the group stage against BATE Borisov. Or how about the 1-1 draw with Valencia? Most would immediately state that the team has evolved a great deal since them and would likely be right. They would point the domination over Juventus in the quarterfinals. But what about the Arsenal series? Munich blew the English side out of its own stadium 3-1 in the first leg but when it was time to respond at home... the team almost imploded. Munich dominated that game and out chanced the Gunners but made a few defensive errors that nearly cost them qualification.

Barcelona will be home and will have the energy of a desperate crowd feeding them. Remember when the Spanish side was felled 2-0 against AC Milan and the entire world called for its demise? Barcelona responded with two goals in the first half, including one in the first five minutes on the way to a 4-0 rout. The AC Milan side that Barcelona destroyed was an erratic one without an identity and this Munich sides lacks anything but that. However, Barcelona also has an identity and they have shown in the past that they can rise to the occasion. Lionel Messi was not at his best in the first match, but the Argentine has proven to be golden in the clutch for Barça and there is no reason to believe he won't be next Wednesday.

The path will be hard and the odds are against them. However, Barcelona still has 90 minutes and anything can happen.
