EA Sports' FIFA 14 has been revealed, and for fans of the series (or virtual football in general), it looks like a great update.

"FIFA 14 will play the way great matches are contested with build up through midfield, tension throughout the match as chances are created, and incredible finishing," said David Rutter, Executive Producer for FIFA 14, in a statement. "Opportunities in FIFA 14 will be rewarding and great goals will look stunning."

The game will be seeing some significant changes over the previous version, FIFA 13. One of the biggest new gameplay features will be "Pure Shot," allowing players to shoot the ball even while rushed or not completely balanced, as well as adjust the angle of approach towards the goal to get in a better spot.

Ball physics are also being improved, offering an overall more realistic experience. The "Realistic Ball Physics" feature will more accurately determine the trajectories of balls, drill accurate low rising shots, and also allow for dipping or swerving shots.

Other gameplay enhancements include better ball protection mechanics, improved teammate intelligence, sprint dribble turns, variable dribble touches, second chance tackles, and curling lofted through balls.

Career Mode is also seeing some changes with the "Global Scouting Network," allowing you to develop your own scouting network. Career Mode will allow gamers to assess new players based on their attributes with a new interface and live scouting reports.

Additionally, the game will once again feature officially licensed clubs and leagues with more than 15,000 players.

FIFA 14 has been officially confirmed for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. EA has teased "additional formats" to be revealed in the next few months. Current rumors point towards a possible next-gen reveal, as well as a Wii U and handheld version.

FIFA 14 is currently in development at EA Canada, and will be released sometime this fall.
