Despite being knocked out the champions league, Paris Saint-German coach Carlo Ancelotti and team director Leonardo have recognized that the team is on the rise and will look to make major moves to bring in new players.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney have been linked to the club in the past, but Ancelotti was noted that he did not think of these additions as distinct possibilities.

"Wayne Rooney is one of the best strikers in the world," Ancelotti stated in an interview with L'Equipe. "I think he is impossible to buy. He is an idol for Manchester United."

"On Ronaldo, there has never been an offer," Leonardo said. "I've never heard anything about Rooney or Cavani either.

He added, "I do not rule out big signings, but only if there is a suitable opportunity. We do want a larger squad with adequate cover in all areas in order to avoid the sort of problems we had in January in midfield, with all the injuries and suspensions."

Leonardo added that he is interested in bringing French stars to Paris, including Bayern Munich's Frank Ribery. "The landscape in football is changing. That's one of the reasons why guys like [Eden] Hazard and [Olivier] Giroud have left [Ligue 1]. But I like the idea of luring great French players back," Leonardo stated in his interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport. "I am not talking about [Karim] Benzema, but about players such as Nasri, Ribery and Cabaye. I don't know whether it's realistic, though, as I have not had contact with any of them."

PSG currently sits atop the Ligue 1 with 67 points in 32 games; second place Marseille has 58 points.
