Spy photos of the BMW X4 crossover concept have leaked ahead of its speculated debut at the Shanghai auto show, while the 2014 X5's ordering guide has been discovered by an auto enthusiast site.

The X4 seems to find its home somewhere between the X3 and the X5 models-as one could most likely discern from its namesake.

But what is interesting is that the concept crossover, that was leaked on the site AutoWP.ru, appears to have taken styling cues from the BMW X6 model with its more coupe-like design.

Motor Authority reports that the production rendition of the X4 is slated for release sometime next year and will have the same foundation at the X3. The new X4 will also be manufactured at the automaker's plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, the auto enthusiast site reports.

And in other BMW crossover news, a separate site---BMW Blog---has tracked down the ordering guide for the 2014 X5 which reveals all the color, trim and rim options that will be available for the vehicle.

From the guide, it appears that rim choices will include standard, luxury line, xLine and M Sport options in both 19-inch and 20-inch varieties, except for the standard wheels that are only available in 18-inches.

There are also two lines, the Luxury Line (ZLL) and xLine (ZXD) that will be released with the new X5, aside from the M Sport edition.

And these trims are highly customizable it seems as there are no restrictions based on color options, according to the guide.

"We are pleased to announce that the Lines will not have any paint, trim, and upholstery restrictions-any combination can be ordered together," the automaker's ordering guide reads.

A powerful 4.4-liter eight-cylinder engine will be available on the X5, while other options include two new four-cylinder engines.

There are rumors that the automaker is also planning on the release of a plug-in hybrid version of the crossover.
