Disneyland theme park in Anaheim, Calif. closed three rides over the weekend, including flagship attraction Space Mountain, the Matterhorn Bobsleds and Soarin' Over California due to safety concerns.
The closures come after citations from state regulators over employee safety protocols were filed, the Associated Press reports.
The citations are reportedly related to a workplace injury that occurred in November when a contracted worker was injured while working on the exterior of the Space Mountain roller coaster.
And according to the citation description on the Cal/OSHA website, the Anaheim-based theme park failed to sufficiently fix "known fall hazards" on the exterior of Space Mountain.
"Furthermore, Disneyland Resort failed to have approved anchorages or approved tie-backs for contract employees to attach when performing scheduled exterior building maintenance," the citation reads.
Disneyland Resorts spokeswoman Suzi Brown said that the citations were received Friday from the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health.
But Brown said that the ride closures were done voluntarily so that the company can review safety procedures.
"We constantly strive to maintain a safe work environment for our cast members and contractors-and we are reviewing certain protocols."
And while the Matterhorn reopened on Sunday, Brown said that the fate of the other two attractions remains unknown.
