Featuring footage filmed just weeks before the plane crash that would ultimately take her life, the last season is expected to be an emotional one. The first six episodes will reportedly feature Rivera, and further special episodes will show how her family and her children Chiquis, Jacqui, Michael, Jenicka and Johnny, and her sister Rosie, grapple with the news of the Banda musician's passing, as they grieve and try to preserve her legacy, according to the Huffington Post.

"We decided to continue season No. 3 ... with the scenes she had finished," said Rosie Rivera, according to Fox News Latino.

"She had completed almost half the series and we decided not to shelve these treasures that were meant to be enjoyed by the whole family and all her fans," she added.

The Season three premiere will show Rivera hosting her weekly national radio show "Contacto Directo con Jenni Rivera" with her sister Rosie, according to an episode synopsis. Fans will also get to see the songwriter prepare for attending a Latin radio awards ceremony.

Rivera, four of her staff, and two pilots tragically died Dec. 9 when the small private Learjet carrying them plummeted from 28,000 feet and crashed into a mountainous area 9,000 feet above sea level, according to Mexico's transportation secretary. The jet was flying them from the northern Mexican city of Monterrey to the central city of Toluca.

According to CNN, the cause of the crash is still under investigation. The accident report will not be ready for nine months to a year, the secretary of communications and transportation said.

The DEA has announced that it is currently investigating Starwood Management, the company that owns the luxury jet that crashed and killed Rivera and her crew. The agency seized two of its planes earlier this year as part of the ongoing probe, reported The Huffington Post.

After dominating Latin charts for years, many saw Rivera as poised to break into the English-language market. Rivera sold 15 million records, according to Billboard, and recently received 11 posthumous Latin Grammy nominations.

The final season of "I Love Jenni" premieres Sunday, April 14 at 9 p.m. EST on mun2.
