Since Daft Punk made the big announcement, fans have been eagerly waiting for more details surrounding the May 21 release of their upcoming studio album, Random Access Memories. We've seen interviews with collaborators and speculated on a Coachella appearance as well as a subsequent 2013 tour, both of which have been denied, but you never know with Daft Punk. They're sneaky. They like to spring things on their fans, catch them off guard, so fans remain hopeful. Well, they're finally getting what they wanted. The electro pop synth sensations has announced that they will launch Random Access Memories at the Annual Wee Waa Show in rural Wee Waa, New South Wales, Australia.

It's an odd location, but it makes sense. Daft Punk will avoid the massive mobs and mayhem that will inevitably ensue upon their return to the big stage. They're warming themselves up. It's been a long time since they've performed live, especially with new material. A smaller, more intimate setting is the perfect venue for their album launch party. They may not even perform live. Wee Waa's local news site reports that the show "will host a playback of the new album to a packed audience" from a purpose-built stage. The decision to launch in Wee Waa doesn't necessarily cater to their drooling fans, but they'll just have to wait. Their chance will come.

The Wee Waa agricultural show will take place May 17-19. Daft Punk will unveil their album Friday, May 17, and will likely serve as one of the festival's biggest draws alongside the dog high jump and crosscut sew contests. The theme of this year's 79th Annual Wee Waa show is "The Year of Water." It's unclear how the duo will play in to the theme, but apparently they were enticed by "the CSIRO Australia Telescope and its array of satellite dishes." Perhaps the broadcast could extend further than we thought, giving fans worldwide a chance to tune in.

The 4,000 available tickets will go on sale from the Crossing Theatre website on Friday, April 12. Wee Waa Society members are guaranteed tickets, while those remaining will likely sell out in the blink of an eye. If you can't make it, not to worry, there's still plenty if Daft Punk in our futures. Like always, we just have to be patient.
