The latest update about "Pokémon X and Y" revolves around the mystery Pokémon resembling the first-generation Pokémon Mewtwo.

On Saturday evening (ET), or Sunday morning in Japan, fans were provided with information on the seventh new Pokémon for the franchise's sixth generation. The name of the Pokémon was not revealed but what is known is there is common ground with Mewtwo.

The official Pokémon YouTube account has provided a trailer of the Mewtwo look-alike and has already surpassed 1.4 million views in three days. In comparison to other videos, the revelation of the new Eevee evolution Sylveon has garnered 1.59 million views, however, the video was released in February.

The unknown Pokémon has gotten many gaming fans talking, discussing both pros and cons.

"Seeing a lot of comments saying it's not a new Pokémon, but a new form of Mewtwo. As far as the Pokémon is concerned, a new form or evolution of an existing Pokémon is a new Pokémon. Squirtle is a Pokémon. Blastoise is a Pokémon, and not just Squirtle's new form. Now quit it." - Kotaku.

"If Mewthree and Mewtwo are connected in some fashion, it would be fair to assume that he is a Psychic type Pokémon. The bit of gameplay footage released shows Mewthree using a wide range of moves that trouble classifying its type. In the teaser, it is seen using a wide variety of energy blasts including psychic, ice, grass and various others. Much like the reveal for Sylveon a month ago, the footage only shows Mewthree fighting Pokémon from prior generations." - Gaming Illustrated.
