The "50 Shades of Grey" rat race persists and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. As new names enter the arena on a weekly basis, old "forgotten" fan-favorites continue to resurface, reminding fans why they were there in the first place.

One big name in particular has reentered the race and is gaining serious affection from "50 Shades" fans. While Ryan Gosling reported in March that he plans on taking a beak from his acting career, the recent movie trailer release for his upcoming film "Only God Forgives" has given Gosling hopefuls a new sense of hope and want. His ominous, powerful character is exactly what fans are looking for in a Christian Grey.

"Only God Forgives" features Julian (Gosling), who runs a Thai boing club as a front for his family's drug smuggling business, as his mother enrolls him to find and kill the person who killed his brother. Not quite the same role as Christian Grey, but you can see how the authoritarianism may translate into "50 Shades."

His new role in "Only God Forgives" isn't the only thing grabbing fans' attention. Earlier this week "50 Shades" fan Shannon Houston wrote on her blog that Gosling had been confirmed as Christian, which turned out to be yet another hilarious April Fools' hoax. We're not amused.

"...Although we are quite a ways off from production, we can confirm that Ryan Gosling will be taking on the role of Christian Grey in the forthcoming adaptation of E. L. James' Fifty Shades of Grey," Houston wrote. "We are thrilled to have such an amazing talent on board and are currently looking for an equally brilliant actress to play the role of Ana. There is no filming date in sight as of yet, but we do hope to go into production by fall 2014."

Gosling has been a long-time contender for the role, but another long-lost actress is also making a splash on the Anastasia Steele front. Elizabeth Olsen, 23, has been thrown into the mix as a possible candidate and even addressed "50 Shades" last summer during an interview with Bullet.

"It's had a huge impact on society," she said. "Apparently rope sales have skyrocketed because women who've read the book are really getting into bondage, which is kind of great. It's such a taboo for women to actually discuss sexuality without the help of Cosmopolitan."

It seems as though Olsen is comfortable with her own sexuality and is aware of the novel's positive effects on society, which are great attributes for a potential Ana to have. Although she originally claimed in the same interview that she would not star as Anastasia, she apparently gave it some second thought and told Glamour she'd do it if the script were right.

So what do you think? Would Olsen and Gosling be fit for the part? What if they did it together? They'd sure look good enough.
