Jade Raymond, the managing director of Ubisoft's Toronto branch, was recently interviewed by IGN about the upcoming Splinter Cell: Blacklist. In that interview, when asked about bring the game to the next generation of titles, she did not deny that the development team did contemplate the jump, and did not deny that we may see the game on next-gen systems in the future.

"So I can't say that's not something we consider, obviously. The PC version has a lot of optimized graphics and a lot of other optimized features. It's also a version where we're planning on some additional features for online.... It's 360, PS3, and PC. Those are the three that we're focused on right now. The next ones, we'll just have to see. Let's get these out the door first," said Raymond.

Raymond also discussed how the timing of Splinter cell: Blacklist's August 20 release affects how people perceive the game.

"There's a bit more pressure to make sure that's the date and stuff like that...There's ultimately also a lot of other great games that are coming out on the current generation, too. That's another thing that always plays into your release date and the thinking about that. It's a hot time to be coming out," Raymond explained.

Splinter Cell is the latest game to come out on the legendary stealth action series, and seeks to mix it's classic stealth formula with modern-style action, in what Raymond calls "innovation through the roots." This can be seen through the game's different styles of play, which involve nonlethal stealth with full-bore action combat and slow-motion kills. If the game is successful, then it could be likely that Ubisoft ports the game over to the next-gen consoles, but we shall have to see once the game is released later this year.
