Pokémon fans are just one day away (or less pending on time zone) from receiving the next update for the franchise's sixth generation video games.

It has been almost three months since Nintendo Global President Satoru Iwata announced "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y" during a Pokémon Direct presentation, and five new Pokémon were announced.

Of the first five Pokémon announced were the new starters. Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie are the new Pokémon starters representing the grass, fire, and water types, respectively.

While measurements for the starters have not been released yet, the numbers have been provided for the new games' legendary mascots.

The Pokémon Xerneas resembles a deer-like Pokémon and although the type has not been confirmed, it is 9-foot, 10-inches tall and weights 474-pounds (lbs).

Representing "Pokémon Y" is Yveltal, a bird-like Pokémon is nearly double the size but weighs a little less than Xerneas. Yveltal's height is 19-feet tall and weighs 447.5-lbs.

In the official trailer for the sixth generation games, Pokémon from past generations were shown (order of appearance) Pikachu, Magikarp, Golurk, Munchlax, Kirlia, Pansear, Patrat, Litwick, Psyduck, Audino, Weavile, Dratini, and Mienfoo.

A month after the games were confirmed, the sixth new Pokémon was confirmed in the form of the latest Eevee evolution. Sylveon, at three-feet-three-inches tall and weighing 51.8-lbs, however, have led fans to debate on its type as it has yet to be disclosed.

In preparation of the new games, a Pikachu colored Nintendo 3DS XL has launched. As of March 24, the special Nintendo 3DS XL is priced at $199.99 and features a 4GB SD card.

The Japanese Pokémon sideshow "Pokémon Smash" will host Game Freak Director Junichi Masuda on April 7. Promotion for the upcoming episode will feature new reveals for "Pokémon X and Y." A teaser video, which has been uploaded to the Japanese Pokémon YouTube account features the Game Freak executive will a couple characters of the sideshow.

"Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y" are set to be released in Australia, Europe, North America, and Japan in October 2013 for the Nintendo 3DS.
