"Arrested Development" fans have jumped the biggest hurdle. The long anticipated season four release date has been announced for May 26. We can rest easy for a while. In the meantime, as fans patiently countdown towards the end of May, rumors surrounding what the new season will entail and the possibility of a subsequent movie continue to circulate.

In an interview with superstar Michael Cera, who plays the awkward teenage George-Michael on the show, the actor opened up about his role in the show's production and other details pertaining to the series' future.

In addition to his acting duties, Cera had a hand in writing the several episodes of the upcoming fourth season. What began as a one-time invitation to sit and spit ball with the writers evolved into a more permanent role.

"Mitch mentioned to me coming in one day, and I was very excited that he had invited me. I went in, and he said, 'Come back tomorrow,' and I kept coming back because I really wanted to stick around until I integrated with them.

"It was a very small room this year. It was only like five guys. It was really fun and friendly and not too intimidating. There were a few days where there were ten guys in there. I was like 'Whoa.' I felt kind of in over my head. Then he just asked me if I wanted to actually come on and actually work there. It was a nice gift from him to me."

Aside from his role as a writer, season four has been a great experience for Cera. The levels of complexity, wit and humor have made it his favorite season yet.

"I think I'm pretty biased, but it feels like one of my favorite seasons. I love it, and I think Mitch is really good at living up to expectations. He set out to do this really ambitious thing. It's structured in a very ambitious way. I think he pulled it off. It was really impressive to watch, and he kept it together the whole time."

And a movie? Cera's not sure.

"I not sure if Mitch is thinking of it like that. It's open-ended in a way. There are a lot of things set up that could be paid off later on, so in that way, I think it's sort of suggesting that he wants to do more of them."

Season Four of "Arrested Development" will return May 26 at 12:01 a.m. on Netflix. All 15 episodes will be released at once, giving die-hard fans the opportunity to call in sick and binge watch their favorite show. It's going to be a great day.
