Brad Pitt Will Star in David Ayer's New Film 'Fury'

Brad Pitt is in final negotiations to star in the new film "Fury."

The actor will join the cast of the World War 2 thriller directed by "End of Watch" director David Ayer. The film's action takes place in 1945 as the Nazi regime collapses and the five-man crew of an American tank called Fury battles a desperate German army.

When speaking about the project Ayer stated that his goal is to "bring a fresh execution to the genre. What these men went through is worthy of a complex, honest portrayal. This will have incredible, visceral action and complex rich characters. I plan to bring tank combat to life in a way that lands with a modern audience."

Writer Bill Block also commented on the film and stated "Fury is not your father's WWII movie, it digs deep into the complexities of battlefield heroism."  

Pitt was last seen in "Killing them Softly" and "Moneyball" for which he received an Academy Award nomination. He was also seen in "The Tree of Life" and "Inglorious Basterds." He will next be seen in the summer blockbuster "World War Z" as well as the Cormac McCarthy adaptation "The Counselor." Pitt will also appear in "Twelve Years A Slave" which he also produced.

Ayer last directed "End of Watch which starred Michael Pena and Jake Gyllenhaal. He recently completed work on "Ten" starring Sam Worthington and Arnold Schwarzenegger and will be released by Open Road in January.

Production on "Fury" will begin in September and will be produced by Block, John Lesher and Ethan Smith.
