On Friday March 29th, the Today show aired a reel of famous movie stars auditioning for their first movies and TV shows.

The 54 videos were put together by three anonymous casting directors who are retiring and are auctioning them for their retirement money. They included Leonardo Dicaprio vying for a role in the 1990 TV series "The Outsiders" which he got a small part in. They also include Brad Pitt, Keanu Reeves and Robert Downey Jr. auditioning for Ron Howard's 1991 film "Backdraft." During the Today show it was revealed that Downey Jr. auditioned for the film three times but did not get the part. Nicole Kidman was also part of the tapes and was shown auditioning for a dramatic role in the 1991 film "Shattered." Kidman got the role but did not take it because she was offered the role of "Days of Thunder" where she met Tom Cruise.

Gwyenth Paltrow, and Helen Hunt were also seen auditioning for "Jurassic Park" but Laura Dern was Steven Spielberg's choice. The video also included Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly auditioning for "A Beautiful Mind" for which they were both nominated for Academy Awards and Connelly won for Best Supporting Actress.

The tapes are being auctioned by Julien's Auction house owned by Martin Nolan and Darren Julien. They expect the tapes to sell anywhere between $2,000-$4,000 and even plan on selling some for $10,000.
