Sprint customers finally able to install the latest Android update for the Samsung Galaxy S2.

Android version 4.1, otherwise known as Jelly Bean, offers several improvements and enhancements, some of which come from the Galaxy S3.

The Galaxy S2 update offers three modes: easy, blocking, and power saving. The three modes are in addition to the following:

- Smart Stay: Tracks eye movement to ensure the device screen is always on while it's viewed so the backlight doesn't dim or become idle.

- Direct Call: Converts text message interface to the voice call interface by simply raising the phone to the ear.

- Pop Up Play: Allows users to watch video content while operating any application at the same time.

"The Jelly Bean update also includes the addition of widgets to the lock screen," noted Sprint. "These widgets provide easy access to email, text messages, a clock, a calendar and the camera. The user can customize the five widgets in the lock screen to the services they use the most often. Jelly Bean also enables widgets to resize on their own, adjusting to the space available on the screen when new widgets are added."

To first know what update your Galaxy S2 smartphone has, from the home screen, touch "Menu," to "Settings," then "About Phone." The user should then scroll to the bottom and look for "Baseband Version." It should read "FL24" but it will show "GB27" after the update.

The smartphone is available in 16GB and 32GB internal storage variants with 1GB of RAM. A microSD card slot is available for an additional 32GB of storage. The rear-facing camera has eight megapixels at 3,264x2,448 pixels, while the front-facing camera bared two megapixels. While available in black, pink, and white color models, the Galaxy S2 offers 1,650mAh battery capacity, offering a standby time up to 610 hours and talk time of eight hours and 40 minutes when fully charged under a 3G network.
