The HTC One battery life results are in, after rigorous tests by GSMArena, and HTC's flagship phone has impressive web surfing stamina.
The One bested every phone ever tested, lasting through 9 hours and 58 minutes of web browsing, just edging out Apple's iPhone 5 at 9 hours, 56 minutes. The Samsung Galaxy S4 lasted 8 hours, 42 minutes, while the Sony Xperia Z only managed 6 hours, 37 minutes, and the BlackBerry Z10 only 6 hours, 27 minutes.
That was the HTC One's best showing, however. It clocked a respectable 13 hours and 38 minutes in the talk time test, coming in fourth place behind the Mororola Droid Razr Maxx, the Google Nexus 4 and the Galaxy S4.
The One was fourth again in the video playback test, which ran a single video through continuous playback until it drained the battery. The One lasted 10 hours and 2 minutes, just behind the iPhone 5 at 10 hours and 12 minutes and the Galaxy S4 at 10 hours and 16 minutes. But all lagged far behind the Razr Maxx and its 16 hours and 35 minutes.
But standby time for the HTC One was lackluster compared to the Galaxy S4. The One can be expected to last about 48 hours between charges with mild use. That's comparable to the score of the Xperia Z, and a bit better then the 46 hour rating of the Z10. But it's far behind the 63 hours a Galaxy S4 can go between charges.
The HTC One features a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 4.7-inch 1920x1080 pixel widescreen Super LCD 3 display, a 2300 mAh Li-Po battery, a 4-megapixel "Ultrapixel" camera with enhanced low-light sensitivity with 1080p HD video, up to 64GB of internal storage and runs Android 4.1.2.
