On the heels of A24's success with Harmony Korine's "Spring Breakers" the company has revealed a brand new poster for the film.
The poster captures James Franco's Alien playing the piano with Ashely Benson, Vanessa Hudgens and Rachel Korine in bathing suits with guns. The shot is from the already iconic montage where the three girls ask Alien to play them something inspirational before they go out to steal and sell drugs. The Florida gangster Alien offers his sincere rendition of Britney Spears' ballad "Everytime."
The company released this new poster as means of getting away from the sex and violence they have already promoted through the first posters and have decided to focus on how beautiful the film looks. It is their means of reaching a new audience after its successful first two weekends.
"Spring Breakers" was released on March 15th and already garnered $7.3 million at the box office. It has also divided audiences and critics alike. The film has a 68 percent aggregate score on Rotten Tomatoes. The Hollywood Reporter stated "It has hypnotic visual style and a dense, driving soundscape. But it's also too monotonous and thematically empty to be seriously provocative"
Time Out New York was more favorable stating "Spring Breakers is either an inspired satire of the youth movie or the most irresponsible comedy mainstream Hollywood will never make. The bros in your crowd will call it rad -- and radical it is."
The film has also had Oscar buzz for it star James Franco whose performance was universally hailed as a bravura performance. Vanessa Hudgens, and Selena Gomez have also garnered acclaim for their turns.
A24 expands "Spring Breakers" this weekend to 1,379 theaters and is expected to continue its successful run.
