Blizzard was at the Game Developers Conference to discuss the creation and success of Diablo 3. In a panel entitled "Shout at the Devil: The Making of Diablo 3," former game director Jay Wilson revealed several interesting facts about the game. He stated that the game gets over one million unique players a day, and that is before the game has come to the PlayStation 3. Wilson also said that the game also gets three million unique visitors every month.

The game is expected to get even more players in the coming year, as the game gets ported to the PlayStation 3, and the PlayStation 4 when it is eventually released. The console versions of the game will feature online and offline play, with the option to have four-player split screen co-op available on a single television.  It is unknown when Diablo 3 will be coming to consoles, but a playable demo was featured during the PAX East conference last week in Boston.

Wilson also discussed one of the biggest gripes about Diablo 3 that he and gamers have: the auction house. There, players can trade both in-game and real-world money for various items. Wilson believes that while around half the game's total users use the auction house, it has negatively affected the game overall. Making real world money has become the mission of many gamers, instead of playing through the game and exploring the game's many areas.

As of the end of the year last year, Diablo 3 has shipped over 12 million copies of the game. Wilson worked on the game for six years, before being moved to a different team within Blizzard (hence the "former" in the former game director's title.) The Game Developers Conference is in San Francisco, and started March 25 and wraps up Friday.
