It has long been speculated that the newest Xbox would be revealed officially for the first time at a special event in April. This rumor has been circulating for quite some time now, but now, it looks like the new word through the grapevine is that the reveal for the next-gen Xbox has been pushed back into May.
Paul Thurrott of Windows Supersite has gone to Twitter and stated that the big unveiling shall not be in April, but in May. Specifically, he clarified this morning that he expects the console to be shown off to the public on May 21.
No word on why the date has been pushed back, but this is a rumor based on the foundation of another rumor, so it is unclear how much of this information is indeed accurate. The next-gen Xbox has supposedly already been shown off to insiders within Microsoft, so it is possible that the newest Xbox may be complete or nearly complete already. Both the next-gen Xbox and the PlayStation 4 are expected to come out by the holidays of this year, with November as a possible release time.
Snapshots of the system's dev kit were released earlier this month, revealing that the system would block used games and always be required to be connected to the Internet. The system specs have also been supposedly leaked as well.
With so many rumors floating around about the next-gen Xbox, it is hard to tell what may be true and what may be false information. So much has been leaked, so some of the rumors are bound to be false. If Microsoft is indeed delaying the unveiling of the newest Xbox, there has been little sign that the system would be delayed for any reason. Considering these major media events are planned months in advance, Microsoft must have a good reason if they are going to delay the unveiling ceremony (from a previously-unconfirmed date) of the new Xbox.
