Nokia has issued a software update for their Lumia 920.

The update for the Windows Phone 8 smartphone, according to a tweet by Nokia Care US, features several improvements. The update includes an enhancement to proximity sensor parameters, improved automatic display brightness adjustment, and performance improvements. The specifics to the "performance improvements" were not outlined.

It's important to note, the update is only for AT&T customers in the U.S., not for Lumia 920 customers abroad.

The update is labeled as "SW 1232.5957.1308.0001," and can be obtained by tapping "Settings" then "Phone Update."

On the Nokia Care US Facebook page, it is noted the update will be "arriving soon" for Canadian Rogers mobile carrier customers.

The update comes as the Lumia 920 is priced as free for new AT&T customers. The Microsoft Store is offering the Windows Phone 8 device for $0.00. Current AT&T customers who want to upgrade their device, but only under a family plan, can also obtain the Lumia 920 for no price. The Microsoft Store currently has the black, red, and yellow Lumia 920 smartphones for free.

At the carrier's main site, AT&T is offering the Lumia 920 for $99.99 when signing on for a two-year contract. Signing on for one year will increase the smartphone's price to $349.99 while the month-to-month price adds an additional $100.

The Lumia 920 smartphone has a screen size of 4.5 inches, 32GB of internal storage with 1GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with 3,264x2,448 pixels with LED flash, Bluetooth 4.0, an NFC chip, 2,000mAh battery capacity, and is available in black, gray, red, yellow and white color variants.
