Gangman Style's PSY To Change The Title And Lyrics Of Next Song To Avoid Controversy

After absolutely dominating the pop culture landscape with Gangman Style, whatever PSY is working on now is going to be eagerly listened to by millions of people around the world. However, the Korean artist's song is not even out yet, and already it's making headlines.

For his next track, PSY thought a song about "Assarabia," a Korean slang term used to describe thrills, would be a fun topic. However, he's recently decided that using that word might offend Arabic listeners, just due to the way it sounds.

Although the Korean word has absolutely nothing to do with the Arabic people, PSY thought it better to err on the side of caution, and will be changing the title and lyrics to avoid using the term.

The now unnamed song was due to be released on April 13, and there is no word yet on whether or not this will cause a delay. It is likely that he is still on track to release the song however, as he plans to debut it at a live concert event called "Happening" at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in April. Those who are unable to attend can watch the performance live via an official stream on YouTube.

As you probably know, PSY's international breakout hit was Gangman Style, a track whose music and trademark dance has absolutely infected everything from Internet memes, to television, to general everyday conversation. Late last year, it became the first YouTube video to top a billion views, and is currently still the most popular video on the site. By the end of 2012, the song had topped the music charts of more than 30 countries including South Korea, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Spain, and the UK.
