Fans are ecstatic that "Arrested Development" is on its way back for a fourth season. It's been nearly seven years since we've seen any new material. For such an obsessed-over television show, that's a long time. Some fans, although thankful to have them back, are frustrated with how long it took them to get their act together. However, it's not as easy as it seems. Getting the entire cast and crew back together proved to be a daunting task.
"That show launched a lot of our careers and everyone is doing great, so to come back together while things are going well is really a fortunate situation," Jason Bateman, who plays the central role as the responsible Michael Bluth in the show, told GQ. "Everybody had to be big boys about not making it financially impossible."
It really is a fortunate situation. Fans are getting more of what they love and the entire cast is back in full force. Not one of the pivotal, crazed Bluth's opted out of the series' return. This time around, the cast is even better with guest appearances from the likes of Seth Rogen, Kristin Wiig and once again, Liza Minnelli as the vertigo prone neighbor.
Fans have been aching for news of future seasons, and although rumors indicate that the fourth will be the last, Will Arnett hinted that he's not sure if that's the case. The fourth season will also serve as a precursor to a full-feature film finale. There's no official news on the movie as of yet, but Bateman seems confident that it's on the way. If there are more Bluth shenanigans on the way, won't it be just as difficult to wrangle the star-studded cast?
"There are many, many questions that these episodes ask that only the movie will answer," Bateman said. "And there are many stories where the loop is closed inside the episodes. But the overall story, the bigger story, once you see the movie you will see that 'Oh, this story started with those fourteen episodes,' because the action in these 14 episodes happens simultaneously ... And the action across the episodes is happening simultaneously. If I'm driving down the street in my episode and Gob's going down the sidewalk on his Segway, you could stop my episode, go into his episode, and follow him and see where he's going."
It's inspiring to see how the "Arrested Development" cast remains close to their roots. Actors like Bateman, Arnett, Michael Cera and David Cross have skyrocketed to Hollywood royalty since their original appearances on the show, yet they're all taking time away from their busy careers to give the world what it wants. Honestly, they're probably getting more out of it than the fans.
