'Gimme the Loot' Review Roundup: Superb Reviews for Adam Leon's Directional debut

On March 22^nd Adam Leon's directional debut "Gimme the Loot" will be released in art house cinemas.

The film, starring Ty Hikson and Tashiana Washington, tells the story of two determined graffiti writers who embark on an elaborate plan to bomb the ultimate location: the New York Mets' Home Run Apple.

The film premiered at the SXSW Film Festival last year as well as Cannes Film Festival and garnered two nominations for the Independent Spirit Awards. The film has scored rave reviews with the Hollywood Reporter stating "Does it sound patronizing to call a slice-of-life film about teenage Bronx graffiti artists adorable? It's not meant to."

Village Voice also enjoyed the film and said "Leon's grungy résumé indie is a modest deal, with a sweet, mumblecore-style ending, but it glows with unmistakable star power.

Peter Travers of Rolling Stone gave the film a 3.5 out of 4 and stated "Want a bracing alternative to the usual Hollywood swill? Try Gimme the Loot, a fresh, funky jolt of filmmaking joy."

The Chicago Sun Times gave it 4 out of 4 and said "Adam Leon has created something unique and current, with affectionate nods to New York films of the past."

Latinos Post called it "A Charming And Soul-Searching Examination Of Urban Life."

Leon previously directed a short film entitled "Killer" with his lead actor Hickson. Washington has been seen in "Gun Hill Road and "Ice Age: Continental Drift." "Loot" marks both Hickson and Washington's first lead roles.

"Gimme the Loot" will be distributed by IFC Films in New York and will expand in the upcoming weeks.
