A digital device bearing a likeness to a wristwatch is in development by Samsung.

With a source declining to be identified, Reuters reported on Samsung's latest alleged venture, one that was rumored for Apple as well for several months. The development apparently comes due to smartphone sales slowing.

The wristwatch by Samsung is said to perform many of the same features a smartphone would do, but specifics was not provided by the source.

Although Samsung did not directly comment on the wristwatch or smartwatch plans, company spokeswoman Chenny Kim stated, "We are constantly exploring new technologies and developing various form factors."

The rumor of Samsung working on a digital wristwatch is not new. As Latinos Post reported early February, Samsung was purportedly working on a series of devices under the titled "Project J."

According to information via SamMobile, Project J involved three Samsung gadgets: the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 Mini, and an Android smartwatch under the codename "Project J Active Fortius."

The Project J information also provided a list of accessories with each before mentioned device. The "Project J Active Fortius" smartwatch will allegedly have an arm band, bike mount, and pouch accessories for it.

So far, only one of the Project J devices have been confirmed - the Galaxy S4 - and with no confirmation by Samsung, it looks like the digital wristwatch should be placed in the speculation category. Still, with devices like Pebble making a splash on the scene, you can bet the juggernauts that are Samsung and Apple are looking into more wearable computing options.
