The roller coaster ride is over. Season two of HBO's hit series "Girls" has come to a close. Fans may have seen more drugs, nudity and drama than they bargained for, but once the shock wears off, they can look back and smile. Let's give a round of applause to Lena Dunham for another successful, trendy season, and there's still plenty more to come.
There better be. Season two ended in a complete state of mayhem. Every character is on the cusp of a major meltdown. Things have to get better for the beloved Brookylnites. Right?
In the season finale, Hannah's (Lena Dunham) OCD takes a turn for the worse as an annoying ringing in her ear persists after and incident with a Q-tip. She then receives a call from her editor, clearly upset that Hannah has yet to produce a single page. The anxiety weighs heavy on Hannah as she tries to convince herself that she can write the whole book in a day.
She then calls her father asking for money to repay her editor for his advance, claiming that she needs to "restore a little freedom to [her] process." Her father, rightfully so, shoots down her request. Poor Hannah.
In similar fashion, Marnie (Allison Williams) is on the verge of her own meltdown. In the past year, she's broken up with her boyfriend, gotten fired and 'lost' her best friend (we all know her and Hannah's friendship is far from over). After she finds herself having sex and brunch with her ex-boyfriend Charlie (Christopher Abbott), she breaks down and admits that she wants to be with him. In a passionate, tear-soaked moment, Charlie folds and agrees to take Marnie back.
Ray (Alex Karpovsky) and Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) are having their own relationship drama. Shoshanna, who cheated on Ray earlier in the season, is finally fed up with his laziness and claims that his lack of motivation is destroying the relationship. However, Ray miraculously turns in the insult into determination. His boss informs him that he's building a new Grumpy's in Brooklyn Heights and wants Ray to streamline the project, promising him a handsome salary and weekends off. Unfortunately, this doesn't impress Shoshanna and she breaks up with him, well "not exactly," but we all know what that means.
Hannah meanwhile looniness approaches insanity. She continues to eat Cool Whip as she gives herself a hideous haircut, which her friend Laird unsuccessfully tries to fix. She then calls Jessa (Jemima Kirke) and leaves a message, claiming that Jessa's absence has caused her life to spin out of control.
In an even more desperate act, Hannah then calls Adam (Adam Driver). They chat via Facetime and Adam can see Hannah's in rough shape. He sprints, shirtless, to her apartment, breaks down the door and finds Hannah hiding under the covers. "You're here," she says. "I was always here," he responds, picking her up and kissing her. At last. Fin.
