A few bug problems may have set back the premiere date the Samsung Galaxy S4, according to some reporters who have spent some time using the new device.
The Galaxy S4 had a successful unveiling to the public last week in New York City, but those who had longer access to the yet-to-be released smartphone had some difficulties with some of the features. Spencer Ante, from Journal, had this to say about his time with the phone:
"A few of the camera functions seemed gimmicky, while others failed. One called 'Beauty Face' was supposed to make you look better by doing things like slimming your face automatically. The feature didn't turn me into George Clooney; in fact I couldn't see any difference between the photos...Another one called 'Drama Shot' sounded promising in theory, letting you create one integrated photo composed from several pictures. But when I tried the feature it simply didn't work. Samsung marketers shrugged and blamed the way we staged the photo shoot," he said.
The Galaxy S4 was originally reported to be revealed in February, according to a report in CNN Money, with March being the release date for the phone. This was reported in The Korea Times, but Samsung debunked the rumor via the company's Korean-language Twitter.
However, given that the device was having technical difficulties at the reveal, the speculation lends some credibility to stories of Samsung's struggles to iron out the kinks of the new smartphone. With so many new features and innovations coming to the phone, it is understandable for Samsung to have trouble perfecting the technology behind it, but did Samsung overreach itself? Would it have done better with aluminum casing rather than a laggy, ambitious software response time? We shall see if the phone gets up to par when it is released next month.
