Jimmy Kimmel is rumored to host the 2014 Oscar ceremony.

The late night TV host has been hinted as next year's potential Oscar host by the Chicago Sun Times' Billy Zwecker. The reporter stated that according to two anonymous Academy Members, everyone wanted Kimmel to host the show.

One of the members stated "I've never seen such a broad-based groundswell for a potential host or hostess before," He added, "Everyone wants Jimmy to host the awards. The stars all love him. He's comfortable around them and also has that history of hosting the post-Oscars special."

A second Academy member said "Another Academy member and Oscar voter seconded that opinion. "It's Jimmy's job if he wants it. ... Of course, it's up to the show's producers to decide in consultation with the Academy leadership. ... But you just mention Jimmy's name and people smile and go, 'Oh yes. He'd be perfect."

Kimmel is known for hosting past awards ceremonies including the American Music Awards as well as the ESPY awards and the Primetime Emmys. He is also known for hosting the post Oscar show.

Recently Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were rumored as potential Oscar hosts after  tremendous performances at the Golden Globes. However Fey has already denied the rumors stating that she would not do it.

The Academy Awards were last hosted by Seth MacFarlane from "Ted." The comedian received negative reviews for his offensive jokes and later stated that he would not host another Oscar ceremony again.

The 2014 Oscars are slated to be presented in early March a week later than this year due to the February Winter Olympics.
