On March 15 TriStar will release the Halle Berry starrer "The Call."
The film, directed by Brad Anderson, tells the story a veteran 911 operator Jordan Turner who receives a call from a girl who has just been abducted. She soon realizes that she must confront a killer from her past in order to save the girl's life.
The film recently premiered to mixed reviews with Variety stating "There's little to differentiate this high-pitched screamer from a particularly feverish Law and Order rerun."
The Hollywood Reporter on the other hand enjoyed the film and stated "For the most part ... a tense, extreme-jeopardy thriller that delivers the intended goods."
Anderson has recently directed the TV series' "The Killing" and "Alcatraz." His last film was 2008's "Transsiberian" with Emily Mortimer, Woody Harrelson, and Ben Kingsley. He also directed "The Machinist" with Christian Bale and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
Berry won an Academy Award for "Monster's Ball" in 2002 and last starred in "Cloud Atlas" with Tom Hanks, Ben Whishaw, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, and Jim Sturgess. She recently starred in "Movie 43" and announced that she would reprise her role as Storm in "X-Men: Days of Future Past."
"The Call" also stars Academy Award nominee Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine), Michael Eklund (Watchmen), Morris Chestnut (Ladder 49), and David Otunga (WWF Raw). It was written by Richard D'Ovidio (Exit Wounds) and produced by Bradley Gallo, Robert Stein, and Michael Luisi.
The film will be released in 2,100 theaters and is rated R for violence, disturbing content and some language.
