David O. Russell's latest untitled film will be released this year on December 13th.

The film, starring Jeremy Renner, Bradley Cooper, Christan Bale, Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams, is based on the true story of a notorious financial con artist (Bale) and his mistress/partner in crime (Adams), who were forced to work with an out of control federal agent (Cooper) to turn the tables on other con artists, mobsters, and politicians. At the epicenter of the entire tale, is the passionate and volatile leader of the New Jersey state assembly (Renner) who is also the local hero and mayor of impoverished Camden.

The release date will put the film in the midst of awards season and should bring Russell back into the Oscar race. Russell comes off two nominations for "Silver Linings Playbook" and "The Fighter" and will be one of the many directors who could potentially garner a directing nod.

Russell has led seven actors to nominations including Lawrence, Cooper, Bale, and Adams with Lawrence and Bale winning. As a result all four actors are sure to garner buzz for the film; don't count out former Oscar nominee Renner either.  Actors Louis C.K. and Alessandro Nivola have also joined the cast and could be potential nominees.

The project known as "Abscam Project" also reunites Lawrence and Cooper after "Playbook" and reunites Bale and Adams from "The Fighter.

The film was written by Eric Singer and Sony Pictures is set for a limited release before going wide on Christmas. Sony will also release George Clooney's "The Monument's Men," Paul Greengrass' "Captain Phillips, as well as the sequel to "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs."
