Kids do the darnedest things.

Tim Tebow may not get chances to take on the top athletes in the NFL, but he's going toe-to-toe-to-toe with some of the most popular athletes in the minds of his best demographic: kids.

The New York Jets QB has been nominated as best male athlete for the upcoming Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Awards. Facing off against Tebow will be none other than Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps, snowboarder Shaun White, and NBA megastar LeBron James. Hosted by Josh Duhamel, the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards will be held on March 23 at USC's Galen Center.

Tebow's got some stiff competition. After all, Shaun White defines youth cool with snowboarding skills that make ESPN X-Games rank up there with Shark Week. Heck, he may snowboard over a shark next year. Michael Phelps won six Olympic medals in swimming last summer to add to his previous multiple gold medals haul in 2008. Then there's LeBron James. Well, Tebow, at least you've got the Cleveland vote locked up.

Speaking of voting, like any other popularity contest, kids can vote as often as they'd like. Who needs a Super Bowl ring when you've got the chance to go on national television, appear before thousands of adoring fans...and get slimed?

That's right, as most in the juice box demographic can attest to, winners, hosts and guest celebs have all been treated to a green slime coating courtesy of the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards. Trust me, with the mud thrown at Tebow over the last couple of years, green slime would be a welcome reprieve. Some of last year's slime recipients include Halle Berry, Justin Bieber, Will Smith and Heidi Klum.

The KCA's would be a welcome reprieve from the attention from his latest appearances, particularly recently scratching a scheduled speaking engagement at a Dallas megachurch known for it's anti-LBGT beliefs. Tebow did speak at Liberty University, a Christian university founded by controversial minister Jerry Fallwell.
