One of the most anticipated films at the SXSW Film festival was by far director Joss Whedon's "Much Ado About Nothing."

The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year and generated some buzz. Shot in 12 days at Whedon's residence, the film was a mystery as the cast and crew were told to be secretive about the production.

Whedon said that the initial interest in the project arose because of his "fixation on this notion that our ideas of romantic love are created for us by the society around us, and then escape from that is grown-up love, is marriage, is mature love, to escape the ideals of love that we're supposed to follow."

After this past weekend's screening in Austin, Texas, the film received favorable reviews in general. The NPR stated that "A project this simple would be nowhere without the actors, and Whedon gets fine work out of just about everybody."

The Hollywood Reporter gave the film a "...more than most adaptations, this is a film true to Shakespeare's practice of employing all means at hand to keep the crowd entertained"

IndieWire praised it stating, "The result is an utter joy, Whedon's most emotionally resonant and fully realized feature film to date. And I say that as one who is not a devoted member of the Whedon army."

Whedon's last film "The Avengers" became the third highest grossing film of all time and was nominated for one Academy Award. He also wrote the highly acclaimed horror film "The Cabin the Woods." He is currently in production for "The Avengers 2" and also last wrote "In Your Eyes."

"Much Ado About Nothing" will be released in June by Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions.
