EA has sent out invitations to select parties (such as IGN) that are teasing a big reveal for Battlefield 4 at the upcoming Game Developers Conference.

The invitation is reminiscent of the box art for Battlefield 3, the first clue that this could be a invitation for the unveiling of the next game in the series. The invitation has a save the date notification for March 26 at an unknown movie theater (IGN blurred out the location of the event). The Game Developers Conference will be taking place in San Francisco from March 25-29.  Last year at the conference, EA revealed Medal of Honor Warfighter, as well as Battlefield 3 Close Quarters content.

While nothing is confirmed about Battlefield 4, we do know that it will be appearing on next-gen consoles, and that it has been shown off behind closed doors before. Other than that, the game remains shrouded in mystery. However, this may change at the end of the month with this announcement.

With the Game Developers Conference happening immediately after the PAX East Conference, this will become an exciting week for gamers. With two of the biggest trade shows in the industry happening so close to each other, anything can happen, as developers compete to create the biggest splash. With EA revealing this announcement in a movie theater, those in attendance can expect some intense onscreen action.

This announcement could also lead to reveals on whether one console or another could receive time-exclusive DLC for the new game. Sony has traditionally gotten the exclusives from Battlefield, but with the rumors that EA and Microsoft have struck some sort of agreement between the two companies could signal an end to that. We will have to wait a few weeks until March 26 until we find out what EA has under their sleeves.
