With the news that the PlayStation 4 will have a staggering 8GB of GDDR5 RAM memory, game developers celebrated the huge new sandbox they were given to create and design their games. While the average gamer may not be entirely sure what these numbers mean, game designers, such as lead level designer for Dishonored Christophe Carrier, were very happy to hear the news, according to Eurogamer.

"As a level designer we are struggling against memory every day. We cut things, we remove things, we strip things, we split the levels, we remove NPCs from levels because there's not enough memory...So knowing that memory is something that is going to be improved in the next generation of consoles: to us, it's a joy. It's something that we were waiting for."

Dishonored has been praised by both critics and consumers, and it recently won a BAFTA award for best game of the year. Many of the members of Arkane who made the game share Carrier's praise for the PlayStation 4, such as Dishonored game designer and associate producer Dinga Bakaba. Bakaba looks forward to working with the social aspects of the system, such as the share button.

"We are looking forward at how we can integrate all those things into our [next] game," Bakaba stated.

With people on the development team excited for the new PlayStation, will we see Dishonored 2 for the console? Is a sequel to the Dishonored the next game Bakaba hinted at? Carrier could only say that "We are not allowed to talk about the future for this IP right now"

It would make sense given the game's success and the developers' comments about the system that Arkane would be planning a sequel to the game. Unfortunately, we will have to wait until the company decides to release more information before anything will be confirmed.
