On March 8th FilmDistrict will release the new movie "Dead Man Down."

Starring Colin Farrell, Noomi Rapace and Terence Howard, the film tells the story of a crime lord's right-hand man who is seduced by one of his boss's victims, a woman seeking retribution.

The film has scored negative reviews with a 43 percent aggregate score on Rotten Tomatoes. Variety described the film as "A derivative collection of brazen plot holes and latenight-cable cliches."

USA Today added, "As a gritty thriller, Dead Man Down doesn't stand out among its bullet-riddled brethren."

Manola Dargis of the New York Times gave the film two stars out of five stating, "The movie might have been better if its Swedish director, Niels Arden Oplev, had played with the genre clichés stuffed in this turkey instead of going for straight-up action."

The Hollywood Reporter however was more favorable and said, "That crack cast still keeps things involving, especially Rapace's emotionally and physically disfigured Beatrice."

The Los Angeles Times was also positive and called the film "A moody twist of hyper-violent vengeance and heartache where death is hand-delivered, mercy is hard to come by and love is never easy."

"Dead Man Down" was directed by Niels Arden Oplev and marks his English language film debut. Oplev is best known for the Swedish version of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" where he also worked with Rapace. The film went on to win a British Academy Award for Best Foreign Film and was also nominated for Best Actress and Best Adapted Screenplay. Oplev is also known for his work on "Worlds Apart" and "We Shall Overcome."

"Down" also stars Dominic Cooper (My Week with Marilyn), and Isabelle Huppert (Amour).

The film is rated R for violence, language throughout and a scene of sexuality and will hit 2,175 theaters.
