I guess it's time we start taking Villanova seriously. The Wildcats are now 3 for 3 at the Wells Fargo Center against ranked opponents as they just made Georgetown look foolish for being ranked No.5

JayVaughn Pinkston led the way for Villanova with 20 points, 54 rebounds, and an eye popping five steals to help cement the upset.

This isn't college football, ranked teams are going to take their licks throughout the season and have bad losses against unranked teams more often than the boys who only play on Saturday.

But Georgetown wasn't the only ranked team to lose to lesser opponents Wednesday night, which raises some questions.

Are good teams looking too much ahead to the NCAA Tournament? Or, is the landscape across the nation really that even, where anything goes on any given night?

Perhaps it's a mixture of both.

Otto Porter Jr. dropped 17 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and a block and steal to fill the stat sheet pretty nicely, but his energy wasn't exactly matched by his teammates throughout the night.

For the most part, the game was an even battle; both teams shot just above 45% from the field, however, Villanova was just absolutely stroking it from the three point line going 50% while the Hoyas struggled at a higher rate with 38.9%.

Where things look really out of whack in the box score is the Free Throw attempts. Granted the style of play warranted part of the disparity, you'd have to believe some lopsided whistles contributed to the Wildcats getting 42 attempts compared to Georgetown a meager 8.

Regardless of the fairness in the calls, Villanova has proven they can hang with the heavy hitters and shouldn't be taken lightly come March Madness as a few upsets could be right up their alley.

Meanwhile, things just got a whole lot more interesting in the Big East with Georgetown, Louisville and Marquette all sitting at 13-4.
