On March 6th the Tribeca Film festival announced the features selected for the spotlight, midnight, storyscape and special screenings sections.
During the press conference Tribeca director Genna Terranova stated, "A mix of established filmmakers and rising talent top off the rest of the section with features exploring some fresh takes on unconventional relationships."
Among the 33 films in the spotlight section are the Paul Giamatti, Paul Rudd, and Sally Hawkins starrer "Almost Christmas."John Cusack's film "Adult World" and Whoopi Goldberg's film "I Got Somthin' To Tell You" also join the slate.
Sundance hits "Before Midnight" and "Prince Avalanche" join the list as well as Toronto favorites "The Reluctant Fundamentalist," "Byzantium," and "At Any Price."
The midnight series will feature seven horror films and will open with Marina de Van's "Dark Touch." "Mr. Jones" by Karl Mueller, "Raze by Josh Waller and "Frankenstein's Army" will also screen at the festival.
"V/H/S 2" returns to the festival circuit after being acquired by Magnet at the Sundance Film festival. The film is a compilation of horror shorts by the creators of "Blair Witch Project" and "The Raid."
The Storyscape section will include 5 interactive projects including "Star Wars Uncut" about fan boys creating their own Star Wars story and "Journal of Insomnia" about a portrait of insomnia as a universal and peculiarly wide-ranging affliction.
4 documentaries and 2 narrative films will make up the special screenings section including the World Premiere of "The Trials of Muhammed Ali."
The Tribeca Film Festival announced its twenty four competitive films on Tuesday which included "Bluebird" starring Amy Morton, Adam Driver, John Slattery, and Margo Martindale. Other films included "Sunlight Jr." starring Naomi Watts and Matt Dillion as well as "Hide your Smiling Faces" by Daniel Patrick Carbone.
The festival, created by Robert De Niro, will celebrates its 12th year and will run from April 17-28.
