Rebecca Hall has joined the cast to the Christopher Nolan produced film "Transcendence."

Hall will play Johnny Depp's wife in Cinematographer Wally Pfister's directional debut. According to reports, Hall beat out actresses Emily Blunt and Rooney Mara.

The film, written by Jack Palgen and also starring Paul Bettany, tells the story of a scientist whose brain is uploaded to a supercomputer. Aside from that plot point however, the filmmakers have kept the movie secret.

Straight Up films will produce and finance the film with Marisa Polvino, Annie Marter, Kate Cohen and David Valdes as producers.Alcon Entertainment's Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson will also produce whileChristopher Nolan, Emma Thomas and Aaron Ryder are set to be executive producers.

Hall last starred in "Lay the Favorite" and recently wrapped "Iron Man 3." Hall worked with Pfister and Nolan on "The Prestige" where she played the role of Sarah Boden.

Pfister has been the cinematographer to Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Series. He was nominated for the Academy Award for his work on "The Prestige," "Batman Begins," "The Dark Knight" and won for "Inception." He also worked on Bennett Miller's "Moneyball" and "The Italian Job." Pfister recently hit headlines when he bad mouthed "Marvels' The Avengers" stating that the film was "Appalling." He stated "They'd shoot from some odd angle and I'd think, why is the camera there? Oh, I see, because they spent half a million on the set and they have to show it off. It took me completely out of the movie. I was driven bonkers by that illogical form of storytelling."

Christopher Nolan is currently in pre-production for his new film "Interstellar," a movie that Steven Spielberg was set to direct. He is also producing Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel" which he also wrote the story for.

Principal photography is set to begin in April in Los Angeles. The movie will open on April 25, 2014 by Warner Bros.
