Rovio, the developers of the Angry Birds series, has just announced that it has partnered with DreamWorks Animation to create a new game based on The Croods. This being Rovio, it will of course be a mobile game for the iOS and Android platforms.

The Croods is an upcoming 3D animated feature starring Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, Catherine Keener, Clark Duke, and Cloris Leachman as a family of prehistoric cave people. The family's life is shaken up when their cave home is destroyed, forcing them to venture out into a world filled with incredible creatures and unfamiliar landscapes.

The game will be released on March 14th, about a week before The Croods hits theaters on March 22nd. Gameplay will involve players having to "hunt & gather their way through spectacular new landscapes as they tame fantastic and never-seen-before creatures. Help The Croods survive the wild…and each other!"

DreamWorks has been in some hot water recently, announcing that they are laying off over 300 employees due to the financial performance of their last film. Hopefully this game helps them to keep things afloat while they work on their future projects.

Rovio on the other hand is doing quite well, having just released a major content pack for their Angry Birds spin off, Bad Piggies. Rovio Executive Vice President of Games Petri Järvilehto has said that, "DreamWorks Animation's The Croods is filled with wonderful characters and creatures in an incredibly detailed, inventive world -- it was just begging for its very own mobile game!"

He also stated his company had greatly enjoyed working on the title, and it had been an "incredible experience having our two teams working closely together on extending the story to mobile platforms."
