Pokémon fans are gearing up for the sixth generation games as "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y" are set to be exclusive for the Nintendo 3DS.

When Nintendo President Satoru Iwata gave the Pokémon Direct presentation confirming the new sixth generation games, it was announced "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y" will not be part of the regular Nintendo DS but under the new Nintendo 3DS.

The news of the games becoming exclusive for the Nintendo 3DS did bring some concern among several Pokémon fans who don't own a Nintendo 3DS. Some fans, in fact, recently purchased the Nintendo DS in time for the "Pokémon Black 2" and "Pokémon White 2" games, which launched in North America in October 2012.

However, a poll conducted by Latinos Post shows that Nintendo and Pokémon fans are gearing up for the games set to debut eight months from now.

The unscientific poll asked Latinos Post readers if they plan on buying a Nintendo 3DS for "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y" and the final results show positive news.

Readers were given four options: yes, no, already own a Nintendo 3DS, and not sure.

With 1,145 votes counted coincidentally at 11:45 a.m. EST on Feb. 28, 48.47 percent of voters already own a Nintendo 3DS.

With 38.52 percent of the vote, readers polled said they will buy a Nintendo 3DS ahead of the October release date. The 38.52 percent could be good news for Nintendo as they have noted "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y" among their "most-anticipated" games in hopes to see a boost in 3DS sales.

Eight-percent, or 86 votes, were "not sure" if they will buy a Nintendo 3DS before October while 5.5 percent made their decision and will not buy the 3DS.

Pokémon fans did comment during the poll, which included:

"That's the really big downside to these new games," wrote Thad. "Having to buy a 3DS. I never wanted a 3DS because it didn't have many of the cool options the DS lite had. I never did my research but I'm pretty sure you can't play GBA games on it nor can you play DS download, that allows you to play games that you don't have. As a Pokémon fan, I want to be able to play my GBA Pokémon games on my DS. I wish we could choose if we wanted the game for DS or 3DS."

Garrett wrote, "I bought a 3DS XL specifically for Kingdom Hearts 3D and the rumored Ruby and Sapphire remakes, which haven't happened, to my disappointment (Hoenn fanboy). However, I am glad I got one because I'm sure X and Y will not disappoint."

Uniquely named Fruit Punch Samurai G noted, "The 3DS is a new system different from the DS. Nintendo and every other developer had to move away from the DS. The DS is now an unsupported system and no new games will come to it. The 3DS is the new system Nintendo has, so games including Pokémon would likely be made for it instead of the DS"

"Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y" will be available in October, but pre-orders are being accepted by Amazon, GameStop, and Walmart right now.
