Anne Hathaway apologized to fashion designer Valentino after the actress made a last minute decision to ditch his frock in favor of a pink Prada dress.

Hathaway and Valentino Garavani have long been known as having a father-daughter-like relationship, embarking on ski trips together and all, so scrapping his dress came as a surprise to many.

"I didn't know what I was wearing until two hours ago. I tried on a lot of dresses, but at the end of the day, I loved the simplicity of it," Hathaway said on the red carpet on Sunday before the Oscars ceremony began.

It would seem that Hathaway doesn't have much loyalty or share much devotion for her "father" of the fashion world.

But the 30-year-old actress attempted to clear up the misunderstanding in a statement, claiming that she made a wardrobe change out of fear that someone else was going to wear something similar.

"It came to my attention late Saturday night that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans," she said.

"Though I love the dress I did wear, it was a difficult last-minute decision as I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honor of the deep and meaningful relationship I have enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself. I deeply regret disappointment caused."

But regardless of wardrobe woes plaguing the Les Miserable star, she still made out with a Best Supporting Actress award.
