The lovable Bluths are finally making their comeback. After lying dormant since was cancelled by Fox in 2006, "Arrested Development" has gained a semi-cult following and will return with a fourth season via Netflix in May. The original cast will remain the same, however a few new additions and character changes will bring an interesting twist to the rip-roaring series.
Comedy stars Seth Rogen and Kristin Wiig are said to join the all-star cast among others, according to Us Weekly. "Arrested Development" creator Mitch Hurwitz didn't disclose what roles the pair will play in the upcoming series, as he wants to keep several surprises for the season debut, however it has been rumored that Wiig will play a young Lucille Bluth.
"You know? Now that people started watching it, they get ahead of us, and so then I've started really - we've all started really guarding the material just to make it fun for the audience," said Hurwitz.
"We hold back information about the plot because we want to reward the fans for sticking with us, and that's so much fun. That's the funnest part of it."
All 14 episodes of the entire season four will be released on the same day and each episode will be dedicated to one character. The season will follow the lives of each character as it leads up to the full-length movie finale.
Fan favorite Michael Cera will also be returning for the new season., but he won't just be playing the role of the awkward, confused teenager George Michael; he's also signed on to help with the writing, according to Huffington Post.
"He's such an open guy and he wanted to learn this other craft," said Hurwitz.
"Mitch mentioned to me coming in [to the writer's room] one day, and I was very excited that he had invited me," Cera told MTV. "I went in, and he said, 'Come back tomorrow,' and I kept coming back because I really wanted to stick around until I integrated with them ... It was a very small room this year. It was only like five guys. It was really fun and friendly and not too intimidating. There were a few days where there were 10 guys in there. I was like 'Woah.' I felt kind of in over my head ... Then he just asked me if I wanted to actually come on and actually work there. It was a nice gift from him to me."
Although season four will feature new characters and new writers, "Arrested Development" is sure to bring fans more of what they love. It's time to get out our martini shakers and cutoff jeans, because the Bluths are coming to town.
