The sixth generation Pokémon games are eight months away but fans are already deciding on their new favorite legendary Pokémon.

Nintendo Global President Satoru Iwata confirmed "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y" on Jan. 12 during a Pokémon Direct video presentation. The Nintendo president also announced the games will be released in the same month of October in Australia, Japan, Europe, and North America.

The Pokémon Direct presentation, which featured the trailer for "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y," featured a glimpse of two new legendary Pokémon - the mascots for the two sixth generation games.

Representing "Pokémon X" is Xerneas while "Pokémon Y" will feature Yveltal. The type of Pokémon Xerneas and Yveltal represent are still not clear but one appears to resemble a deer and the latter is a bird-like Pokémon.

While the types are still in the air, the measurements have been confirmed.

Xerneas is 9-foot, 10-inches tall and weights 474-pounds (lbs), and Yveltal's height is 19-feet tall and weighs 447.5-lbs.

The news on the legendary Pokémon are scarce, but with that noted, Latinos Post conducted an unscientific poll asking readers on their favorite legendary Pokémon between Xerneas and Yveltal.

The polling has been neck and neck but in the end, as of Monday at noon (EST), one legendary of the sixth generation games is commanding a narrow lead.

With 52.87 percent of the poll, or 1,133 votes, Yveltal is seen as the favorite legendary for "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y."

Xerneas didn't go down empty handed. The deer-like Pokémon received 1,010 votes, or 47.13 percent of the poll.

In the end, 123 votes made the difference for the two confirmed legendary Pokémon.

The poll is still open, and readers can vote by clicking here.

"We brought Pokémon into an entirely new dimension and we're incredibly excited to bring 'Pokémon X' and 'Pokémon Y' to fans," said GAME FREAK Inc. Video Game Director Junichi Masuda. "The stunning visuals, a completely redesigned environment, game scenario, music, and communication features will bring smiles to the faces of video game players around the world."
