iOS 6.1.2 Update Fixes Bugs: Battery Problem And Data Drainage Addressed; Lockscreen Hack Still At Large

Apple has released an update to the iOS 6.1.2, which will fix some issues found in iOS 6.1.

The iOS 6.1.2 update, according to Apple, fixes a bug found on the Microsoft Exchange calendar. The bug on Exchange has apparently increased network activity and ultimately led to battery and data drainage.

Sadly, the lockscreen hack doesn't seem to have been solved - most speculate 6.1.3 will be the solution for that point of contention. It has been reported that the bug on the lockscreen has led to unsolicited access to user's voicemails and contact information leading to accidental phone calls.

The iOS 6.1.2 update is available for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, and the fourth and fifth-generation of the iPod Touch. If the update has not been pushed out to users over-the-air, iOS 6 owners can go to Settings > General > Software Update, and follow the onscreen instructions. An alternative to obtain the update is connecting the Apple device to iTunes.

With the iOS 6.1.2 releasing, Apple hasn't slowed down, the next iOS update - the iOS 6.1.3 - should be rolling out soon.

According to 9to5Mac, the "iOS 6.1.3 beta 2" has been released to developers of the iPad, iPod Touch, and iPhone. They also noted, "It is also possible that the update plugs the exploits used in recent jailbreaks, but we have not verified that."

A possible setback for develops with the iOS 6.1.3 beta 2 is they cannot restore to earlier versions of the iOS.
