Authorities in Australia have raided the home of a man accused of trying to sell a yet to be released Microsoft Xbox "Durango" 720 developer kit on Ebay.
The suspect, identified as Dan Henry, could face charges of corporate espionage, dissemination of confidential documents, and misuse of a computer and/or carrier service, Escapist Magazine reports, after police searched his home several days ago and confiscated his computers, gaming consoles, and mobile phone.
Authorities pursued Henry after he leaked photos of Durango on Ebay where he tried to sell it for $10,000. The photo was removed after it was thought to be a hoax but developers later confirmed that the pictures were in fact accurate of the highly anticipated Xbox gaming console. Henry made matters worse by leaking additional information about the console which included specifications like storage capacity, controller design, and the console's internal hardware, reports say.
Henry tweeted about his arrest and said the raid was conducted by FBI agents working with the Computer Crime Squad unit of the West Australian police. Police confirmed the raid but would not comment.
"If he wants to tell the world that police have been investigating him over stolen property that is his choice," authorities said.
Henry has admitted in recent interviews that he breached networks at some gaming companies. He also said the FBI was trying to extradite him.
"They can't extradite me straight up but they're looking for those loopholes to do it," he said.
Microsoft did not comment about the raid.
