Samsung's last flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S3, sent shock waves through the smartphone industry, becoming the first handset to pose a legitimate threat to Apple's iPhone. It's no wonder, then, that consumers and tech junkies alike are eagerly looking forward to the South Korean electronics manufacturer's upcoming offering, the Galaxy S4. Good news is that it looks like Samsung will reveal the device to the public on March 14.
A flurry of reports today began to hint that March 14 was the date that Samsung will be holding an event to show off its upcoming flagship phone, and tech website The Verge seems to have confirmed this.
"The Verge has now confirmed with sources familiar with Samsung's plans that March 14th is 'definitely' the day that the Korean giant plans on revealing one or more new devices, one of which is presumed to be the Galaxy S IV," writes The Verge.
The report also goes on to state that hte Galaxy S4's design should resemble the Galaxy Note 8.0, which apparently is nothing like the leaks that have been pouring out
Reliable tech write Eldar Murtazin from Mobile-Review also tweeted that the Samsung Galaxy S4 event is expected to be held in New York City.
While exact release dates are still up in the air, a previous report from Samsung-centric website SamMobile stated that European and Asian markets would receive the Galaxy S4 first, in the month of April. The United States and Australia are expected to receive it later, sometime in May or June.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is expected to come with some beefy hardware as well as some nifty tricks. A 5-inch 1080p display, 2GB RAM, and a quad-core Exynos 5440 processor should be accompanied by touchless gesturing as well as eye scrolling.
"'The leap in cool new features from [Galaxy S III] to the next flagship will be bigger' than the leap from the S II to the S III," sources told The Verge.
Keep in mind that nothing has been confirmed by Samsung, and we'll have to wait until the company makes an official statement for anything concrete.
