The NY Post reported today that Khloe Kardashian Odom will not return as a judge on The X Factor next season, while co-judge Mario Lopez has been asked to return.

The Post story hasn't been officially confirmed, but it is plausible, considering Fox's previous lukewarm reaction to Kardashian's hosting skills, says Entertainment Weekly's James Hibberd.

He points to a recent EW interview with Fox executive Mike Darnell, who said of the hosting last season, "I think the hosts were okay. I think Mario knows how to be a host. I think Khloe was new. And I thought for someone new she did okay."

How much money do The Voice judges make per episode? (And who makes the most?)

For now, it looks like Khloe will be sticking to another kind of reality TV. Last week, filming began for Season 8 of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. While Khloe's uncensored mouth and outrageous antics may have earned her mixed reviews on The X Factor, they work in her favor in her family's reality show.

If Kardashian is indeed leaving The X Factor, she'll be following in the footsteps of former judge Britney Spears, who left after one season, reports E! Online. Epic Records executive L.A. Reid also called it quits after two seasons, leaving Simon Cowell and remaining judge Demi Lovato in search of replacements.

Demi Lovato told E! she wasn't sure who would take Britney Spears's place. "I don't know...I mean, who could replace Britney?" she said. "Let's be honest." (Read more on E! about Britneys X Factor paycheck!)

Auditions for The X Factor Season 3 will begin in five cities across the U.S. on Mar. 6, according to the show's official website
