Land Rover is working on its next generation of Range Rover Sport vehicles that were recently spotted on a test drive in England.

The most drastic change for the new flagship SUV will be the considerable amount of weight that will be lost due to the all-aluminum construction. The new Range Rover Sport is expected to lose even more weight on top of the 700 pounds that were dropped from the latest full-size Range Rover as compared to its predecessor.

But perhaps one of the more noticeable changes will be a new style that appears to have taken some inspiration from the Range Rover Evoque with its slanted roof and sleek design.

From what can be determined from the prototype vehicles, there seem to be shorter grilles and larger air intakes as far as the front of the vehicle is concerned. LED marker lights were also spotted on the test vehicles that also resemble the Evoque model.

From the rear, the new Range Rover Sports appear to have a more drastic roof spoiler and more aggressive exhaust pipes with a new wheel design.

The engine for the new Range Rover Sport is expected to remain the same as the newest redesigned model with base models offering a 375 horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine, with higher trim levels offering the same engine but with 510 horsepower.

There are also some reports that the new Range Rover Sport will introduce a V6 model to its line with a 380 horsepower supercharged engine like in the Jaguar F-Type.

All models are expected to use an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Expect the new 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Sport to make its debut within the next six months with sales beginning later in the year or early in 2014.
