The Apple and Samsung struggles have led to which smartphone has seen the most web traffic.
Back in October, a survey conducted by Chitika showed Apple's iPhone 5 commanding the web traffic volume over Samsung's Galaxy S3. Chitika noted the iPhone 5 with 56 percent against the 44 percent for the Galaxy S3. However, the October survey was released three weeks following the iPhone 5's release.
"Record-breaking sales numbers, along with new 4G browsing speeds which encourage data usage, are the most likely explanation for [the iPhone 5's] tremendous growth. This latest shift in the mobile ecosystem is not welcome news for Samsung, which has positioned its device as a direct competitor to the iPhone 5." Noted Chitika.
Now in February, Chitika showed an updated web traffic share between the iPhone and Galaxy S3.
According to the new survey, the iPhone 5's lead has diminished while the Galaxy S3 increased.
The new survey released this month shows the iPhone 5 with 51 percent of the web traffic share to Galaxy S3's 49 percent. The data is only based on U.S. and Canadian mobile phone Web traffic only from Feb. 1 to Feb. 9.
Chitaka also surveyed the web traffic share of mobile phones in North America. The Apple commanded the statistics with 41.5 percent, this include iPhone 5 and predeceasing iPhone smartphones. Samsung devices totaled to 20.6 percent.
The good news for Apple comes after the iPhone 5 was ranked fifth in customer satisfaction in a survey conducted by OnDevice Research. Although the Apple smartphone was ranked fifth, the Galaxy S3 did not rank in the top four. The Galaxy Note 2 did overcome the iPhone 5, finishing fourth.
